Let’s Get Chili Powered

Congratulations to the winners of the 44th Annual Chili Cookoff!

Check out this years pictures!

About Us

In 1979, the Flight Operations Directorate held the first Chili Cookoff. The first place trophy was named after Mr. Gene Ross, a passionate supporter of America’s space program and of the Johnson Space Center. In the 44 years since – not much has changed. We get together as a community to enjoy great chili, great company, and OUT OF THIS world fun! We would love for you to join us.

The Teams

Do you DARE to accept the challenge? Can you UNITE your ingredients into a star-packed sensory spree? Will you EXPLORE the limits of the chili-verse?! If so, you’re who we’re looking for.

*Team Registration has closed for this year’s Cookoff*

The Tasters

Do you consider yourself a sensory scientist? Do you have a passionate opinion on the proper amount of cumin in a dish? If so, we need you! Taste delicious chili, enjoy a cold beverage, play games and meet awesome people!

The Venue

Robert Gilruth was instrumental in developing the first three American spaceflight programs. We also like to think he loved Chili. Learn all you need to know about the Gilruth Center here.
